THE ultimate festival camping list

THE ultimate festival camping list

As music festival season slowly creeps upon us all, I thought there was no better time than now to unleash my go-to festival camping list. This list has been a compilation of needs/wants throughout various festivals and through LOTS of trial and error. This is my personal camping list, I advise that you definitely make it your own and add/remove things to match your personal wants/needs. I personally like breaking down my list into 4 parts: campsite necessities, food, personal items, and first aid. I do this so I don't overwhelm myself with a massive list when I actually start to pack things up, and so I'm able to compartmentalize my packing so I'm not scrambling to look for things when I'm at my campsite.

Campsite Necessities:

  • TENT - please don't be that person that literally forget's your tent! A lot of times, camping festivals have small tents available for sale at their general stores for those that forget their tents. Although this is kind of convenient, it can be a little expensive and take away from your weekend budget for merch/food/and other festival expenses.
  • Canopy - y'all.. it gets HOT out there, no matter the state.
  • Tapestries/flags - these help blocking out the heat and make your campsite easily recognizable, especially when you're like me and forget what your campsite looks like.
  • Biodegradable trash bags - alright y'all, here's the thing: we have ONE earth and we are responsible for taking care of it! Even at festivals, you should be separating your garbage from your recyclables. I strongly recommend that even in your personal life, you make the contentious decision to use biodegradable trash bags as plastic trash bags take so much longer to decompose :(
  • Fairy lights
  • Pop-up lantern
  • Air mattress
  • Pillows
  • Comforter and sheets
  • Scissors
  • Camping knife
  • Batteries for air pump/lights
  • Rubber Mallet, stakes, dust pan and small broom
  • Zip ties
  • Foldable chairs
  • Paper towel roll x 1
  • Toilet paper x 3
  • Hand sanitizer and hand soap
  • Paper plates and utensils
  • Camping fan
  • Camping shower
  • Inflatable couch

Personal Items:

  • Underwear x 6 - I promise you, it's better to be over prepared than under prepared here
  • sports bra/bralettes x 5
  • Socks x 6
  • Good hiking boots - I definitely recommend in investing in a pair of Doc Martens, although they're a little on the pricier end and are harder to break in, they last forever and ever and once they're fully broken in, they are SUPER comfy!
  • Rain boots and rain jacket - always be prepared for RAIN because mud and damp clothes/shoes can definitely make or break your experience if you're anything like me.
  • Body lotion
  • Deodorant
  • Tooth brush and tooth paste
  • Baby powder
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Body wash and loofa
  • Baby wipes
  • Sunscreen and bug spray
  • Aloe
  • Hair brush and hair ties
  • Microfiber towel - these guy's dry so much more quickly than a normal towel, they do not retain smell in the case that you forget to leave it out to dry or it falls AND they pack up to be super small!
  • Make up/tweezers/small hand mirror
  • Rash creme and chaffing stick
  • Biodegradable glitter - again, I wish I could stress this enough but we literally only have ONE Earth, and unfortunately it is dying :((((( let's do our part to diminish our carbon foot print where we can!
  • q-tips
  • Bobby pins
  • Onsie
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • HOODIES!

Food:

  • Dry ice - dry ice is literally the best thing since sliced bread, it keeps for MULTIPLE days inside a cooler,  just be sure that when you're picking it up from a store, to wrap it up in newspaper because it can burn your skin.
  • Sandwich bread
  • PB&J
  • Protein bars
  • Pedialyte or IV hydration packs - PLEASE stay hydrated! I know that sometimes we forget to drink water in the myst of everything, but you do not want to be caught being dehydrated or with heat exhaustion.
  • alcohol of your choice
  • mixers of your choice
  • fresh fruit
  • individual chip baggies for on the go snacking

First Aid:

Remember, this is my personal list and I strongly suggest to make one of your own to match your wants and needs! I cannot wait for Okee, it was my first ever camping festival so it definitely has a special place in my heart.
